Description
Toum is a traditional Lebanese garlic sauce that’s rich, creamy, and packed with garlic flavor. It’s often served with grilled meats like chicken shawarma or shish tawook and works beautifully as a dip or spread thanks to its fluffy, emulsified texture.
Key Ingredients:
- Fresh garlic cloves (about 1 cup peeled)
- Neutral oil (vegetable, canola, safflower about 3 cups)
- Lemon juice (½ cup)
- Salt (2 teaspoons) Feel Good Foodie
How It’s Made:
- Peel and mince the garlic with salt in a food processor.
- With the processor running, very slowly drizzle in oil a bit at a time until sauce begins to emulsify.
- Alternate adding lemon juice with oil to keep the mixture light and creamy.
- Continue slowly blending until thick and fluffy (about 15 minutes).
- Refrigerate in a sealed container; flavors mellow and can keep for months. Feel Good Foodie
